Cambridge, Massachusetts reaches out to those who can’t stop hoarding
A task force to coordinate services among the police force, Fire Department, Housing Authority, and Public Works will address the challenges posed by untreated obsessive hoarding.
An estimated 1.5 million Americans suffer from a hoarding disorder, which can be linked to OCD, major depression, or other illnesses. Hoarding behavior can lead to hazards, injuries, and evictions. Cambridge will seek additional funding to help diagnosed hoarders.
