A&E’s"Obsessed” is casting for patients with OCD/Anxiety

A&E’s critically acclaimed documentary series about people suffering from severe OCD is looking for individuals in need of help. “Obsessed” documents the therapeutic process of everyday people suffering from OCD and Anxiety Disorders and follows their courageous journey towards a better life.

Chosen applicants receive 12 weeks of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from expert therapists. Participants must live within 75 miles of the Chicagoland area.

What Does Habituation Mean?

Exposure and ritual prevention (ERP) has been found to be very effective for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) over the last 35 years. We know that as many as 85% of people with OCD can be helped by using ERP. However, many OCD sufferers and their families are confused by some of the terminology associated with this technique. One very important term that confuses many is “habituation”. My goal in this brief article is to help clarify what this term means.
